HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Ltd. (HRRL) was incorporated on 18th September, 2013, as a Joint Venture between Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and Government of Rajasthan (GOR) with an equity participation of 74% and 26% respectively.
MAJOR FEATURES OF COMPLEX:
HRRL is a joint Venture (JV) of HPCL (74%) and Govt. of Rajasthan (26%), setting up a 9
Million Metric Tonnes per Annum (MMTPA) grass root Refinery cum Petrochemical Complex.
It is the first Grass-root Integrated Refinery cum Petrochemical Complex of India.
It is designed to process a blend of Rajasthan crude and other imported crudes.
It is designed to have state-of-the art world class technologies to make environmental friendly
BS VI fuels and high value petrochemicals products.
Environmental Clearance for HRRL was granted by Ministry of Environment, Forest and
Climate Change on September 13, 2017.
Govt. of India approval for the project was received on October 9, 2017.
To receive Crude and water seamlessly, a robust network of 800 Km cross country pipeline is
being made.
To construct this mega refinery, more than 150 lakhs m3 of earth filling has been done, which
is more than six times the volume of the Pyramid of Giza.
Approximately 16 lakh m3 of concrete is used which is 5 times more than the concrete used
in Burj Khalifa.
About 3 lakhs metric tons of structural steel is used, a quantity 40 times more than the
amount used in the construction of the Eiffel Tower.
Approximately 28,000 Km of electrical and instrumentation cables are being installed,
surpassing twice the Earth's diameter.
Refinery Main Control Room / Petrochemical Main Control Room (RMCR/PMCR) are one of
the largest in the country.
Employment Generation for 35,000 people during peak construction.
Indirect Employment for about 1,00,000 peoples for support infrastructure.
In the construction of this refinery, 85% of the components are sourced locally, aligning with
India's focus on the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.
